San Jose Earthquakes Edge Philadelphia Union 1–0 at Subaru Park
CHESTER, Pa. — The Philadelphia Union fell 1–0 to the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night at Subaru Park, as a second-half goal from Ousseni Bouda proved to be the difference in the Major League Soccer matchup.
After a tightly contested first half that ended scoreless, San Jose broke through in the 59th minute. Midfielder Niko Tsakiris started the play before Timo Werner delivered a precise pass down the left side to Bouda, who slipped behind the Union defense and finished past goalkeeper Andre Blake for the game’s only goal.
Philadelphia pushed forward in search of an equalizer, creating several scoring opportunities and outshooting the Earthquakes 12–7. However, the Union were unable to convert their chances as San Jose’s defense and goalkeeper Daniel held firm late in the match.
The defeat continues a difficult start to the 2026 MLS season for Philadelphia, which has struggled to generate offense in the opening weeks. San Jose, meanwhile, improved to a perfect 3–0–0 start to the campaign with the road victory.
Philadelphia will look to regroup quickly as they prepare for upcoming matches at Subaru Park, hoping to find their first win of the season and build momentum as the MLS schedule continues.
